About the role and team

We have an exciting opportunity for a Commercial Analyst to join our Finance team at Hall & Wilcox.

The Commercial Analyst supports the Commercial team in delivering financial analysis, reporting, pricing support, profitability insights and business intelligence solutions across the firm.

Working closely with the Senior Commercial Manager and broader Commercial team, the role provides an excellent opportunity to develop capability across commercial finance, pricing, budgeting, profitability analysis and business partnering within a professional services environment.

The role contributes to a range of commercial activities, helping to turn financial and operational data into meaningful insights that support informed decision-making, improved financial performance and continuous improvement initiatives across the firm.

You will be responsible for:

  • Assist with the preparation of annual budgets, forecasts and management reporting.
  • Prepare and distribute regular financial, operational and performance reports.
  • Support the development of Board and Executive reporting packs.
  • Analyse financial and operational data to identify trends, risks and opportunities.
  • Contribute to client and matter profitability reporting, modelling and analysis.
  • Support pricing initiatives, including rate reviews, pricing analysis and tender submissions.
  • Assist with the development of dashboards, reporting tools and business intelligence solutions.
  • Participate in commercial projects and business improvement initiatives across the firm.

About you

You will ideally have the following skills and experience:

  • Relevant tertiary qualification in Finance, Accounting, Commerce, Economics or a related discipline.
  • 1-3 years' experience in financial analysis, commercial analysis, management accounting or a similar analytical role.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret business performance, identify trends and provide commercial insights.
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities, meet deadlines and deliver high-quality outcomes.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy and integrity.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to build effective relationships with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Intermediate to advanced Excel skills, with an interest in financial modelling and data analysis.

Experience with Power BI, SQL, Aderant or Jedox will be highly regarded
