About the role and team
We have an exciting opportunity for a Paralegal to join our Insurance WA/NT section, based in our Perth office.
This role is responsible for managing the end-to-end settlement process for statutory workers’ compensation claims in Western Australia. As part of a collaborative team, you will have the opportunity to gain exposure to a range of paralegal work while contributing to the delivery of exceptional client service in a fast-paced and supportive environment.
You will be responsible for:
- preparing settlement agreements and associated documents and forms in relation to statutory settlements of workers compensation claims ;
- ensuring settlement agreements are signed by relevant parties within reasonable time frames;
- liaising with clients, other solicitors, unrepresented claimants, and third parties in relation to settlement forms and documentation;
- arranging filing of settlement agreements with WorkCover WA and liaising with WorkCover WA in relation to registration and, where required, rectification of settlement agreements and paperwork;
- monitoring settlement timeframes and proactively liaising with clients to ensure settlement funds are received on time;
- building strong relationships with clients through regular communication and proactive matter updates;
- undertaking research and investigative tasks, including conducting social media searches and gathering relevant information to support matters.
- coordinating medico-legal appointments, preparing FOI applications and drafting requests for clinical notes, vocational assessments and labour market reports; and
- ad hoc duties as and when required, including assisting other paralegals with their workloads.
About you
You will ideally have the following skills and experience:
- experience working as a Paralegal on insurance or litigation matters;
- ability to work autonomously and as part of a team;
- excellent verbal and written communication skills;
- excellent attention to detail and time management skills;
- run files in an efficient and timely manner; and
- ability to organise and prioritise effectively.
