About the role and team
At Hall & Wilcox, our Corporate Insurance & Financial Services team provides financial services advice to clients in the insurance sector, including general and life insurers, reinsurers, insurance intermediaries and financial institutions, as well as general corporate and government clients.
This position will suit experienced senior lawyers who are looking to perform market-leading work at a senior level within in a corporate insurance practice led by a highly regarded partner and within a supportive, flexible and collaborative team environment.
You will be responsible for:
- providing financial services regulation and compliance advice for insurers, reinsurers and intermediaries;
- distribution channel management and outsourcing;
- scheme transfers of general and life insurance businesses;
- insurance M&A transactions;
- drafting treaty and facultative reinsurance arrangements for cedants and reinsurers;
- policy drafting, benchmarking, review and interpretation work;
- assisting with placing specialised classes of insurance in local and international markets, including W&I and D&O insurance;
- providing strategic advice to financial services clients on regulatory enforcement and remediation; and
- advising on insurance issues across a variety of industry and public sectors and preserving and optimising the recovery of insurance assets.
About you
You will ideally have the following skills and experience:
- a minimum of 5 years of post-admission experience;
- experience in a front-end or corporate insurance role;
- experience in adjacent financial services areas like superannuation, wealth management or funds will be highly regarded (with opportunities to work across these areas, if desired);
- strong technical legal skills; and
- good writing skills.
