About the role and team
We have an opportunity for a Senior Associate or Special Counsel to join our highly regarded Property & Projects team, to be based in our Sydney office.
This role will involve genuine breadth working with leading partners across our sectors of focus including social infrastructure, renewable energy projects, property funds and the public sector. This may include:
- assisting on the land assembly components of renewable energy transactions, including land access agreements, easements and options for solar, wind, and battery storage projects;
- working with our HW Funds team on acquisitions, disposals and due diligence;
- advising community housing providers and other industry participants on development agreements, funding arrangements and project delivery models; and
- supporting our public sector clients at both state and Commonwealth level with their diverse property needs.
The work is complex, collaborative, and deeply rewarding.
Our Property & Projects team is made up of approximately 120 people nationally and you will have the support of the broader team in delivering excellent service to our clients.
We are seeking a motivated Senior Associate or Special Counsel eager to build a practice and work in a genuinely collaborative team environment that offers the opportunity to work on an interesting and varied range of projects and property matters. The partners in the team are well-regarded leaders with an excellent track record of developing the skills of team members. They are looking to add a talented lawyer to the team to secure the team’s future success. There are real career progression opportunities in this role.
About you
You will ideally have the following skills and experience:
- at least 5 years of post-admission experience as a real estate and/or projects lawyer at a reputable mid to large size firm;
- experience in (or a strong desire to gain experience in) one or more of our sector focuses of social infrastructure, energy and renewables or property funds;
- a strong commitment to outstanding client service and the ability to build and manage client relationships;
- the ability to think laterally about how best to achieve commercial solutions for our clients;
- experience mentoring junior lawyers;
- the ability to handle the demands of working for multiple partners across jurisdictions as required;
- the ability to work autonomously and as part of a team;
- excellent technical, analytical and drafting skills with keen attention to detail; and
- outstanding verbal and written communication skills.
